The Artisan Group is proud to announce today's Artist Spotlight Feature is Kristal Lee of Atutudes!

We caught up with Kristal and asked her a few questions about her adorable handmade tutu line, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:

Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
Atutudes was started when Jennifer and I were looking for the perfect outfit for Jennifer's daughter Elan's first birthday party. We didn't find exactly what we were looking for so we decided to try making tutus ourselves. From the minute I made the first one I was hooked. It is so much fun to have a creative outlet that brings so much joy to our customers. It is not like working at all.

What is your favorite product from your shoppe and why?
It's so hard to choose just one! It changes as I evolve and make new things. I really love our new Circus Fun Tutu. It is so bright and cheery. We spray it with gold glitter. I love anything shimmery.

When you're not handcrafting such precious tutus, what are your hobbies?
I love to shop, to try new restaurants, to cook and bake, to travel to new places, to connect with friends and to relax at the beach with my husband.

What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
I love the close-knit community we have. I have gotten so much from being in the group and have not participated in an event yet. It is so much more than just getting my products into the hands of celebrities. We have the opportunity to give back to worthy charities. We network and promote each other. Nikki and Valerie are wonderful leaders and teachers. I am constantly learning ways to excel at my craft business. Each day brings something new and exciting. I just love it! I cannot wait to see what the future holds. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

The Artisan Group is proud to announce today's Artist Spotlight Feature is Mandy Bryant of The Light Fantastic!

We caught up with Mandy and asked her a few questions about her vintage-inspired fine art photography, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:

Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
The Light Fantastic is a shop that specializes in quirky, vintage inspired images. I always try to have a balance of elements; not too girly, not too masculine; not too sugary, not too kooky. My vintage camera collection, various adorable shoes, and my lovely children are often the subjects of my little vignettes. I recently began making photo jewelry, and now sell brooches and pendants featuring my tiny photos. It's like wearing a miniature work of art.

What is your favorite product from your shoppe and why?
I think my favorite piece will always be Two Girls. There are so many reasons why this photo was such a success. It has a great backstory and means so many things to so many different people. Two girls connected forever, not by relation, but by unseen circumstances...it's kind of powerful. Making this photo happen was such a 'mad scientist' moment for me. When a shoot is successful and everything goes right, I go into this weird state of extreme focus. All I could think was, "Yellow cardigan! Argyle socks! Bunny! No, the other bunny!" The whole world fades around me, and I can think of nothing else. It's kind of maniacal, but kind of awesome, too.

When you're not creating taking such interesting photographs, what are your hobbies?
When I'm not working on my shop, I love to sew pretty dresses for my little girl, Chloe. I like to buy vintage dress patterns on Etsy, especially the ones that remind me of Cindy Brady, and make them modern with fun fabrics. I also love to read whenever I can. If I find a book that I love, I will do nothing else until I've finished it. When I first started reading the Harry Potter books, I could not stop until I had read all seven. I barely cleaned my house for three months.

What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
Everyone knows that The Artisan Group provides an amazing opportunity to put your work in the hands of so many influential people. But what I love most about our group is the strength of our support system. Having other people there to ask questions, share success stories, and follow along with each other's progress has been so beneficial to me. I think when it comes to preparing for these events, we're all flying by the seat of our pants. We're all learning together and we're all there for each other. I just love it.

The Artisan Group is proud to announce today's Artist Spotlight Feature is Autumn Bradley of Autumn Bradley Jewelry Design!

We caught up with Autumn and asked her a few questions about her funky line of metalsmithed jewelry, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:

Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
I design and create boho rock and modern rustic jewelry for men and women. Most of my pieces are edgy yet still great for everyday wear. Since each piece is crafted by hand they are all one of a kind. I'm all about embracing our imperfections and individuality and it's because of this that I developed my Trash Metal Collection®. Many of my metalsmithed pieces are treated to my signature "trashing" technique which insures that each one is unique.

What is your favorite product from your shoppe and why?
Right now my favorite product is my Moonstone and Sterling Silver Ring. I purposely made it too big for myself so I wouldn't keep it!

When you're not handcrafting such edgy boho jewelry, what are your hobbies?
I'm sort of an animal/nature freak and I'm constantly coming across lost dogs that need to be reunited with their owners, spiders that need to be saved from being crushed, and most recently I had to save a slug that somehow my dog brought into the house. Needless to say I love being outdoors hiking and camping, spending time with my friends, family, and my incredibly supportive boyfriend.

What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
I link to The Artisan Group on my website and refer to them as my Fairy Godmothers! It really is the best way I know how to describe this group. It's like there's always someone there for you with advice, support, inspiration, or a pat on the back. I just feel completely blessed that I am part of such an amazing and talented group of people. xoxo

The Artisan Group is proud to announce today's Artist Spotlight Feature is Ilene Price of Ilene Price Designs!

We caught up with Ilene and asked her a few questions about her beautiful illustrations and fine art, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:

Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
I create and design mandalas using watercolor and ink. I started drawing them a few years ago and what started as "personal, meditative, organic doodling" has blossomed into a business. For those that may not know what mandalas are, they are circular patterns and images that can be found in cultures all over the world and have been around for centuries. They appear in nature, astronomy, art, architecture and gardens, are used in healing practices and represent things like wholeness, unity and harmony.

I am inspired by nature and everything that surrounds me. My designs are colorful and funky with an organic feel and each one is paired with an inspirational tagline such as “Be Soulful”, “Be Magical”, “Be Amazing” etc. This form of expression is a perfect union between my structured graphic design background and my inner artist.

After I finish a watercolor it scanned into my computer, which allows me to hand-make a variety of gift items such as notecards, matted prints, t-shirts, jewelry and more. Over the past year I have sold my products at different art and craft venues and through word of mouth. In fact, The Artisan Group found me at an art show!

As much as I enjoy hand making all of the gift items, my goal is to eventually license out my work, maybe for a line of home goods, tote bags, fabric textiles, paper goods, yoga clothing etc. That way I can keep creating new designs and do less production work. I have so many ideas and just not enough time to make them!

What is your favorite product from your shoppe and why?
It’s hard to say what my favorite product is. I like my prints and notecards because they show the whole mandala with its inspirational saying. But I also love taking tiny magnified sections of them and creating jewelry and magnets.

I can definitely say that my favorite design is “Be Yourself”. I use that one as my branding logo. It was the first one I ever created and when I finished it, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I was trying to find my creative voice for a long time. I was finally “being myself” and letting go and I immediately began drawing more.

When you're not creating such gorgeous fine art, what are your hobbies?
I love photography, I always have. I am forever snapping pictures everywhere I go, recording what I see or whatever inspires me at the time. Objects and landscapes are color, texture, shape and line. A pile of garbage or a crack in the sidewalk cropped in a funky way can be as beautiful to me as a sunset.

I also love rearranging furniture, decorating and scouring craft fairs, flea markets and garage sales for great finds. I still love typography and do some graphic design for family and friends. You can take the girl out of the design studio, but you can’t take the design out of the girl! (Thank you University of the Arts!) I am always jotting down ideas for all kinds of new creative endeavors. I have a plaque hanging on my wall that says, “Do something everyday that makes you happy.” I try to be creative in some small way everyday.

But by far, my biggest love and “hobby” when I’m not making art is my family, my husband and two children, eleven and sixteen. They keep me very, very busy.

What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
Community. I feel that I am a part of an incredible group of talented artisans who don’t hesitate to share ideas and support each other. Everyone is real and sincere. I know it’s been said before in other artist spotlights, but it’s true… there is no competitive feeling amongst us, at least not that I feel. It doesn't matter that one member may make the same type of item as another member. We all have our own creative spirit and voice and we wish only the best for each other. It’s really wonderful. I’m thrilled to be part of this group and to have this opportunity to get my work in the hands of celebrities. It’s all kind of surreal!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Lindsay Van Cleave

The Artisan Group is proud to announce today's Artist Spotlight Feature is Lindsay Van Cleave of Everistta!

{website} www.everistta.com

We caught up with Lindsay and asked her a few questions about her vintage jewelry line, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:

Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
I’m the one woman jewelry guru behind Everistta. You will find statement necklaces, simple chic necklaces, and large chunky bracelets and also bracelets you can layer for everyday wear. I’m a big fan of layering; just ask if you want guidance on how to layer my pieces with your own jewels. My shoppe focuses on vintage fashion that captures the glamour and romance of the past, melded with modern elements of today’s fashion. I am absolutely enamored by fashion from the early 1900s, especially the 1950s. I love that everyone dressed to the nines, even just to go shopping or for a short walk. I take a lot of inspiration from that era and design my pieces to be current in today’s changing trends, but still have a touch of vintage glamour. This Fall I am focusing on the beauty of raw, natural gemstones juxtaposed with chic vintage and modern elements. I can’t wait to share the collection in the next few months.

I also design custom Bridal jewelry that is another passion of mine. I love bringing a Bride’s design vision to life on one of the most special days of their lives. You will see examples of my Bridal work in my shop, but I welcome custom pieces.

What is your favorite product from your shoppe and why?
My favorite product has to be my signature “Knot” necklace. Its glam, has a vintage feel and you can layer it with everything or you can keep it simple depending on your mood. I’m in the process of re-vamping it for fall with a vintage clasp and a chic rose gold bead. I’m really excited to introduce more vintage materials into my jewelry as I collect them.

When you're not handcrafting such elegant jewelry, what are your hobbies?
I love, love designing for my shop and growing my business, but when I’m not, spending time with my fiancĂ©, who has been my constant cheering section, and my family takes the cake. I would like to say playing with my French bulldog puppy, but hopefully that will happen in the near future! As far as hobbies, I like photography, traveling, running and to be completely honest if I’m on a work “break”, I can’t resist a good fashion magazine and my DVR. Guilty!

What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
I have been amazed everyday by the support and talent that comes from The Artisan Group. Everyone is so passionate and supportive of each other. Even though some of us sell in the same category, it’s nice that everyone is still supportive and wants each other’s businesses to flourish. I love logging onto our group and seeing what everyone is saying and has to share for the day. It puts a smile on my face when someone has good advice or had a good sale. These are all truly special people and I’m proud to say that I’m part of such a wonderful group of individuals.
